Should I hire a framework specialist or a front-end generalist?
A generalist unless the codebase is unusual. Frameworks are learnable in weeks by someone who understands the browser, and the reverse is not true. Hire for the framework when the work is deep inside its ecosystem, such as a Next.js rendering strategy or an Angular enterprise application, and for the fundamentals otherwise.
